Nimbl Mail vs Mailchimp

The best-known email platform in the world, priced on the size of your list. Here is where that helps you and where it costs you.

Checked against Mailchimp's published pricing on 1 October 2026. Prices change, and the sources are linked at the bottom.

The difference that reaches your invoice.

Nimbl Mail

We charge for sends. Your contact database can be as large as you like. A 50,000-name list emailed once a month costs the same as a 5,000-name list emailed once a month.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp prices on contacts. Every address you add moves you towards the next tier whether or not you ever email it, so growing your audience raises the bill by itself.

What each one costs

Read the basis, not just the number. One of these is priced on sends and the other is not, so the cheaper option depends entirely on the shape of your list.

Nimbl Mail
R249 – R1,195/month

Three plans in rands: Solo at R249 for 10,000 emails a month, Starter at R695 for 50,000, Enterprise at R1,195 for 100,000. Unlimited subscribers on every one, month to month.

Mailchimp
From R310/month

The Standard rate displayed for up to 500 contacts, in rands, including the introductory discount shown on their site. It rises through contact tiers from there, and overages are billed if you pass a limit. A free plan covers 250 contacts and 500 sends a month.

Which one you should actually use

Pick Mailchimp if
  • You want the biggest integration catalogue in the business. If a tool exists, something connects it to Mailchimp.
  • You need deep, mature marketing automation and are willing to pay for the ceiling.
  • Your list is small and you email it often. At a few hundred contacts their free and entry tiers are hard to beat.
  • Your team already knows it, and that familiarity is worth more to you than the line item.
Pick Nimbl Mail if
  • Your list grows faster than your sending does, and you would rather not pay for contacts you are not emailing.
  • You want one published rand price with no currency conversion sitting between you and your invoice.
  • You would rather not be billed automatically for an overage you did not plan.
  • You want POPIA tooling that assumes South African law rather than treating it as an edge case.
